The Asia Optical Fiber Communication & Optoelectronic Exposition & Conference (AOE) and Asia-Pacific Optical Communications (APOC) have merged their conferences and tradeshow under a new name: Asia Communications and Photonics Conference and Exhibition (ACP).

The combined event creates Asia's premier conference and exhibition in the Pacific Rim for photonics technologies, including optical communications, biophotonics, displays, illumination and applications in energy. The inaugural event taking place 2-6 Nov 2009 in Shanghai, China.

The decision to merge the conferences was made during the back-to-back APOC 2008 and AOE 2008 events in October, when the organizing committees from the respective conferences met and agreed that the Asia-Pacific opto-electronics industry and academic community would be best served by merging AOE and APOC into one unified event which will address the full range of photonics technologies and optical communications with a technical program of broad scope and the highest technical quality.

The five technical societies sponsoring APOC and AOE-IEEE Photonics Society, OSA, SPIE, the Chinese Optical Society and the Chinese Institute of Communications-have joined together to co-sponsor the ACP 2009 conference. The Local Organizing Committee with participation from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, and Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell will be responsible for local organization of the technical conference. Wen Global Solutions will continue as owner of the exposition.

The ACP proceedings will be published in the SPIE Digital Library, IEEE Xplore Digital Library and OSA's OpticsInfoBase. Your paper will be archived and indexed by INSPEC ® and Ei Compendex, where it will be available to the international technical community. All authors of accepted papers are expected to submit a full manuscript for publication in the conference proceedings.

Despite the global economic crisis, exhibitor response to attend ACP 2009 - both new and returning - is high. Enhanced business opportunity is the focus of the exhibition, with hundreds of high-level scientists, experts, corporation decision-makers and government institutes participating in ACP.
